in the sunlight...I love the sparkles! |
indoors. Not as sparkly. Still awesome. |
Gradients are everywhere. Everyone is doing them, I am certainly not the first. But I had the hardest time getting them right. They just wouldn't blend...or the colors I chose just didn't pop against each other.
I used Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri in Lightening and Brisk Blue, plus a healthy coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust for good measure. All topped off with Seche Vite.
It's pretty easy to do, once you get the hang of it. You need a cosmetic sponge, two or three colors, and a surface to blot against. I used a paper plate, but aluminum foil works too. Apply a coat of your base color and let that dry completely. Then apply a couple of heavy stripes of each color to the sponge, with the base color at the edge. Blot the sponge a time or two so it wont be super goopy, and the press it against your nail a few times. You want to kind-of go up and down with the sponge, so you don't get a harsh line. It took me a few tries, but once I (think) I figured it out, it was super-fast. Gradients might just be my new favorite thing!
