The Queen's Ambition is a black cream with lots of super shiny silver flecks.
This is just one moderately thick coat! It goes on like a dream, though it dries fairly matte and very rough and temporarily loses its dazzle.
I thought it might mattify well. No. Don't do it! Looks like macadam. Not good.
It needs top coat. Lots and lots and lots and lots of top coat. I'd normally use Gelous, but I didn't have it with me when I swatched. Including the matte top coat I tried, The Queen's Ambition took *four* coats to smooth out....but wow was it worth it.
The silver flecks catch the light so dazzlingly that they look almost holographic.
I can see people giving this bad reviews because of its initial grittiness and need for LOTS of topcoat, but I hope enough people persist. It deserves fans!
Another Project Runway shade is up next...and I might love it even more than this! Tough call, very tough.
Ooooh this is so gorgeous!! I always eye this one in the store but I haven't picked it up yet for some reason. I need to change this!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, you do. lol I got a backup bottle.
Delete4 coats-Holy Zeus! It does look pretty though. But I already have BL Gobsmacked and like 3 bottles of black with holo in it. I think I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with my stash...may be time to start purging. I want to get rid of all the creams that seem ordinary but take 3 or more coats. I'll have fun searching for better formulas. I know some people think 3 coats for a cream is acceptable...but if the color is not extraordinary and there are a hundred like it, then why bother.
ReplyDeleteIt's not completely unique, but so little is these days...I adore it anyway. I know what you mean, completely about creams. 1-2 should be all you need.
DeleteLooks like the Queen's ambition is to eat all the top coat...everywhere...all the top coat in the world!
ReplyDeleteLOL *applause*
DeleteThis looks like what I wish other polishes like this would look like. Did that make sense?
ReplyDeletelol I get what you mean, and yeah. It's like you took Sinful Colors Secret Admirer (among others) and amplified it.
DeleteWhat a stunning shade!
