So after many years of not working, I decided to get a job...just for the holidays. So far, it's not bad. I enjoy some of the people I work with, and the discounts are certainly nice. But it has definitely convinced me that a regular job is not for me. I think this has been a good experiment for me. I am more resolved now to continue my original plan.
Anyway, with my first paycheck, I decided to buy myself some treats!
The Goodies:
Too Faced Matte Shadow Collection
OCC Lip Tar and Nail Lacquer Set in Strumpet (which will be swatched at a later date.)
Holiday Kiss Clutch with 12 Samples
YSL Glossy Lips Sample Card
Clean Skin Perfume Sample
Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Perfume Sample
The Holiday Kiss clutch/sample bag was one of those promo code deals. I have a mental issue with makeup bags, so I had to grab it. As far as I know, all the bags have the same samples inside. There are a couple of things that I am excited to try, and will definitely be getting a "foil pouch review" of their own. Namely: the glamwow mask and the Stila double duty color. Everything else I either already have, or am not interested in.
The Too Faced Matte Shadow Collection is lovely! I have very few matte eyeshadows, and I am finding that I love them more and more lately. This set has nine shadows, organized by...occasion I guess? Dunno. But they do coordinate...but I think that they are also infinitely mix-and-matchable. It also came with a sample of Shadow Insurance, which I already love and adore. Scroll down for swatches!
The colors are pigmented, soft, and very wearable. I'm thinking the "Day" section might be a bit on the warm side for me, but it'll make for good transition colors in other looks.
I think Classic might be my favorite. It is super pigmented and soft. I can see myself using this several days in a row and not getting bored.
Even though it's not the greatest color for me, I do love purples. Vintage Violet might be the best purple I've stumbled across in recent years. It is a perfect dusty mauve. I can see this being a great all-over color when you are in a hurry. I'd actually like to try this layered over a gold/bronze cream shadow.
Anyway, it's a fun little haul that I bought with my very own money...so it's special. I promise there will be swatches and reviews of the polish/lip tar thingie...just not now. I had a catastrophic crack in my nail and had to cut them down to nothing. So I took the opportunity to test-drive some at-home DIY gel manicures. Boring, I know, but it's in the name of science!
What color is that on your nails? It is pretty!
ReplyDeleteChina Glaze Rose Among Thorns. You'll see it in a few days here ;)
