Influenster Jolly Vox Box

*this is a sponsored post. I was sent this box of goodies for the purposes of review. The opinions, I promise, are all mine. It takes slightly more than expired chocolates to buy me. Maybe diamonds?*

It's that time of year again, where Influenster sends out their boxes of samples and tries to get us to pimp the products. This is my second Influenster box, and it isn't as great as the last one...mostly because it didn't contain nail polish. It did contain some awesome lip gloss, so I guess I can let that slide...this time.

The Goods:

Skinny Cow Divine Chocolates
Puffs with Lotion Tissues
An adorable roll of Duct Tape
Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer in Aurora
NYC HD Shadow trio

Before we get to a proper review...

...yeah. Expired a whole month before I got them. They still seemed fine, and no one died. But because of this, I will not be reviewing them here.

The NYC Shadow trio was OK. For the price, it really isn't bad. It's another Naked-range shadow trio. No reinvention of the wheel here. I think this would be a good trio for most skin tones, as it is super neutral. It's not great on the pigmentation, but it is better than their old shadows. I'd give it a low B/high C. If you used a slightly tinted primer, (or a Maybelline Color Tattoo) it would probably give it more oomph. It's not a fail, by any means, but I don't think it's a "must have" trio. (which is a shame. I wanted to rave about this because I love their polishes!)

The Rimmel Show Off/Apocalips Lip Lacquer. These are awesome. I already have two, and now I have a third. I might need to own them all. No, definitely do. They have a kinda funny taste/smell, but they have amazing pigmentation and lasting power. I can only find them at Walgreen's here, but it is definitely worth the trip. I need to do a post on these alone. They are fabulous.

Duct Tape, what can't you fix? I honestly wasn't sure what to do with a wee roll of blue-and-white floral duct tape. It's not exactly my color palette, and since I live in a rental, I didn't want to use it in a semi-permanent home repair. Then, I noticed a little box I had been stashing random things in...yes, it's the bottom of a Triscuit box...and I figured it was time to pretty this thing up! Now I have a semi-attractive box for storing random things that makes me look at least 75% less like a hoarder!

After:

The tissues won't be getting a fancy review or craft project. They are tissues. With lotion. It's nice, but kinda meh. I actually have bought Puffs before, and found them to be way too lotiony for my taste. But the little pack fits in pockets and backpacks, so they will get used.

Anyhow, thanks to Influenster for sending me stuff...even if it was expired.

  1. I'm just curious, would you actually purchase this box with your own money or do you not think the products would be worth it? I mean I love NYX and the Maybelline Apocalips lip glosses but I don't know if I would spend the money to get this box or not. Some of the products are meh but then others are amazing so its kind of hard to decide. Thanks.

    1. I wouldn't buy *this* particular box, no. I have two of the Rimmel Apocalips already, so I know thats a sound product. I'd never tried NYC shadows, and unless it was an emergency (or I need a particular color) I don't know that I would. The products were ok...but I feel like overall a waste of my time.

  2. Is it just me, or does that box seem kinda crappy? A roll of duct tape, cheap tissues, expired cookies and $5 worth of makeup? I mean, i love the Rimmel show offs but those are pretty cheap and so is the nyc. Free is free but who would pay for that?

    1. It is kinda crappy. I will no longer be going out of my way to get one of these boxes. I completely agree, the Rimmel stuff is amazing...and the NYC trio is acceptable. But the rest? C'mon now...
