Milani Sugar Rim

Its not often that I manage to get ahold of something new. For some reason, my area is a cosmetic desert when it comes to new things. The only way I manage to find something fresh is online, and that's not always how I want to shop.

I was cruising around my semi-local (and generally poorly stocked) CVS a few weeks ago, and I saw loads of new things. One of the things that really grabbed my attention was this Milani "texture" polish in Sugar Rim. It reminded me of turquoise jewelry and the southwest. I had to have it.

Little did I know that I had stumbled upon something brand new!

Sugar Rim is part of their special "Gold Label" line, which is supposed to be more on-trend than their normal stuff. To my mind, textures are on their way out this year. But this is definitely a different take on texture. It doesn't have a lumpy look, nor is it packed with glitters. It isn't even that textured. If I hadn't read the label, I would never have assumed it was anything more than a super rough glitter.

It is a clear base packed with pale yellow, burnt orange, black, and turquoise glitter. There is also the slightly-more-than-occasional silver shard in there. The overall effect is very American Southwest. It is definitely different than anything in my collection currently. It covers fairly well at three coats, but since it does have that clear base, you can use it as a regular glitter topper for another polish. That makes it quite a bit more variable than your average textured polish.

Overall, I think this is a polish that needs buying. I'm not sure how much repeat wear it'll get, but I love the uniqueness of it. I can't wait to try layering it over other colors, just to see what colors will pop out.

  1. Very nice! I'm not really a fan of textured polishes, but as a Midwestern transplant who calls the Southwest "back home," I may have to try this one.

    1. It is really worth it. It isn't super textured (and smoothes out pretty easily with Gelous) and the colors are so unique!

      also your name is awesome.
