Independence Day Manicure

Happy Holiday! I'm generally not into holiday-themed manicures, but my kids really love the Fourth of July so I figured I should do one in their honor. I didn't want to do something that screamed patriotism...that just isn't my style. I decided to go with something a little more subtly suggestive. Somehow, that ended up being stars and dots. Subtle isn't my strong suit.

Colors Used:
Sally Hansen Blue Away
Sally Hansen Red Carpet
OPI Alpine Snow
Sally Hansen nail art pen in black

I painted a base of Blue Away, which is a great sky blue if you are in the market for one. Then I sponged on some white spots randomly. Once that set up a little, I messily drew on stars. The nail art pen isn't great for precision, but it is good for more purposefully sloppy designs. Then, because I needed some red, I added dots of Red Carpet. (Speaking of, is that color discontinued? I haven't seen it in stores lately)

For you Americans, do you have plans for the Fourth? We will be exploding lots of things, and trying to avoid setting fire to the neighborhood and ourselves. It's a bit of a tradition. Last year was the first year that both kids actually enjoyed the fireworks display, so I'm really looking forward to this year.

For the non-Americans. Go out. Drink some drinks and curse at each other. It's the American way, dammit!

    1. :D thanks! I bought the blue because it matches my kids softball uniform...but the seasons over, and I can't just let it linger.
